Fujitsu Launches Storage Eternus Data Services Platform (DSP), a Large Data Management Solution - Cybersecurity

The new solution is designed to simplify the deployment and maintenance of storage infrastructure while reducing the burden of storage administration by 70% and standardizing the costs of managing the life cycle of the system.

Eternus is part of the Fujitsu Storage series, a software-defined storage solution using Eternus Data Services Platform, data management software based on x86 servers. The use of x86 servers in hardware provides a storage environment that incorporates the latest technologies, including increased capacity of media players and processing performance.

The solution allows flexible and rapid storage expansion, reducing management burden and costs throughout the system life cycle. “Eternus DSP offers holistic agility from deployment to the use of different types of media,” says Fujitsu, “to leverage existing infrastructure to operate across generations of technological innovations and support a wide range of capacities ”. Storage Eternus Data Services Platform has been available in Japan since May 28 in Japan and in Europe, the solution will be available from Fujitsu and its partners. Prices vary depending on country and configuration.

Here are the main features of the Eternus data services platform:

1Growth on demand

Eternus DSP offers a storage environment that flexibly integrates technology that manages increased processing capacity and performance. The solution can align with the changing needs of corporate customers, as it can start with a minimum of 3 nodes and 60 terabytes of storage, and expand to a maximum of 32 nodes and approximately 3 petabytes.

2Variety of autonomous and automated operations

The system can monitor storage usage and load bias at each node, and autonomously control the relocation and distribution of data to other nodes. In addition, when several client companies or several departments of a company use the same storage system, the extent of the data to which each user can access and the access rights to exploit the data can be controlled, so that the users can manage their own data securely without disturbing the storage administrator. These measures reduce the burden on storage administration by 70%.

3Advanced system life cycle management

To minimize costs during system renewal and data migration, the solution can help users divide large investments into several small projects by allowing the replacement of nodes sequentially, depending on when they are deployed , starting with the nodes that no longer benefit from the support. Users can also add new nodes to the live storage environment without disrupting systems and services, while easily migrating data from the management screen.
